Terms of Service

The short version: we submit privacy requests to data brokers on your behalf, keep evidence of every one, and re-send them on a schedule. We cannot make a broker comply, and nobody can. You can cancel at any time, and if the service is not what you wanted, tell us within 30 days of your first payment and we will refund it.

The agreement

These terms are between you and Moonhead LLC, a California limited liability company that operates Vanishpoint, and they govern your use of vanishpoint.co and the service behind it. Where these terms say "we" or "us", it means Moonhead LLC. By signing up you accept them.

Two other documents sit alongside this one and form part of the same agreement: the Privacy Policy, which says what we do with your information, and the Authorized Agent Authorization, which is the specific, limited authority you give us to act for you at a data broker. Where this document and the Authorization disagree about what we may do on your behalf, the Authorization governs — it is the narrower grant, and the narrower grant should win.

Who can use Vanishpoint

• You must be 18 or older. You confirm this during setup.
• You must be a United States resident. The service is built around United States state privacy laws and the rights they give you; outside that, the legal basis for the requests we send does not exist.
• You may only submit your own information. Vanishpoint acts on your behalf, on the strength of an authorization only you can give. Setting up an account using another person's identity is a breach of these terms, and depending on what you do with it, potentially of the law.
• One account per person.

What the service does

While your subscription is active, we submit opt-out requests to the data brokers and people-search sites we have built and verified, using the information you give us during setup. We re-submit on a recurring cycle — currently every 60 days — because brokers rebuild their files from public records and a removal that is not repeated quietly expires. For every request we keep a timestamped record of what was sent and whatever came back, and you can see all of it from your dashboard.

Our broker coverage is a specific list that grows as each new broker is built and verified. It is not every data broker that exists, and no service can honestly claim otherwise. The current coverage is shown on the site.

If you are a California resident, the state's DROP platform is a separate, free filing that reaches every broker registered with the state. You file it yourself, because California verifies your identity through its own gateway and no agent can do that for you. We show you how and track the deadline from your dashboard. It is not part of what we submit, and we do not charge for it.

What we do not promise

This section is the one most worth reading carefully, because it is where services like this one are usually vague.

• We cannot guarantee that any broker removes your data. We submit valid requests and keep the evidence. Compliance is the broker's act, not ours.
• Opting out is not the same as deletion. Most broker processes suppress the sale and sharing of your data rather than erase it, and some remove a public listing while keeping the underlying record.
• Removals do not stay done. This is why we re-submit, and why the service is a subscription rather than a one-time purchase.
• We cannot remove you from the internet, from search engines, from public records, or from anywhere other than the brokers we submit to.
• Nothing here is legal advice. We are not your attorney, and an authorized agent is not a lawyer.

What we need from you

Accurate information, mainly. Brokers match on name, date of birth, and address history — if what you give us is wrong or incomplete, the broker will not find your record and the request will not do anything. Past addresses matter more than people expect. Keeping your profile current is the single largest thing within your control.

Beyond that: keep your account credentials secure, tell us if you think someone else has access, and do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to submit requests for anyone but yourself.

Payment

Vanishpoint is $15 per month, or $120 billed once annually. You choose when you sign up. Payment is handled by Stripe on its own hosted checkout; your card details never reach our servers.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period — monthly or annual, matching the plan you chose — until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to collect. If we change the price, we will tell you before it applies to you, and it will never take effect within a period you have already paid for.

If a payment fails and we cannot collect after retrying, your subscription ends and the automation stops with it.

Cancelling, and the 30-day refund

You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your profile. There is no cancellation fee and nothing to ask us for.

If Vanishpoint is not what you wanted, email hello@vanishpoint.co within 30 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. One refund per person. Because the refund follows the person rather than the account, signing up again under a different email address does not create a fresh 30-day window, and we may decline a refund where the same person has already had one.

Outside the 30-day window, cancelling stops the next charge rather than refunding the current period. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

When your access ends, we stop submitting requests on your behalf, including scheduled re-submissions — our authority to act for you came from a live engagement, and it ends when that engagement does. Requests already submitted are not withdrawn; there is no mechanism to un-ask a broker to stop selling your data. Cancelling does not by itself delete your account or your records. If you want those gone, delete your account, which does what the Privacy Policy describes.

Suspending or ending an account

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms — most concretely, one being used to submit another person's information, or to attack or abuse the service. Where it is safe and lawful to do so we will tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right.

If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault — we discontinue the service, say — we will refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

Changes to the service

The broker list changes as brokers are added, and occasionally as one changes its process or disappears. Features will change. We may modify or discontinue parts of the service, and if we discontinue it entirely we will give you reasonable notice and refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.

We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on third parties — brokers, payment processing, email delivery, hosting — and some of those will fail sometimes.

Who owns what

Your information stays yours. You give us permission to use it only to run the service for you, on the terms in the Privacy Policy and the Authorization, and for nothing else.

The site, the software, and the broker research behind it stay ours. The evidence records of your own requests are yours to keep, export, and use however you like — including in a complaint to a regulator, which is much of the point of keeping them.

Liability

The service is provided as-is, without warranties beyond those the law does not let us disclaim. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.

Some states do not allow certain limitations, and where that is so, these limits apply only as far as that state permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in California, and we each agree to that jurisdiction.

Before filing anything, email us at hello@vanishpoint.co. Most disputes are a misunderstanding about what a broker did, and those are faster to resolve directly than through a court.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will publish a new version with a new effective date. If a change materially affects your rights or what you pay, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, cancel, and we will refund the unused portion of the period you have paid for.
