Authorized Agent Authorization

Version 1.0 · effective

This is not a power of attorney. It appoints Moonhead LLC, the company that operates Vanishpoint, as your authorized agent for a specific, limited purpose: submitting privacy requests to data brokers on your behalf. It gives us no authority over your money, your property, your medical care, or anything else.

What you are authorizing

By agreeing, you appoint Moonhead LLC, doing business as Vanishpoint, as your authorized agent under the California Consumer Privacy Act (Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq.) and the comparable privacy laws of other states where you are entitled to exercise these rights. You authorize us to submit the following requests to data brokers and people-search services on your behalf:

  • Requests to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information.
  • Requests to delete personal information a broker holds about you, where that broker's process supports a deletion request.
  • Requests to know what personal information a broker holds about you, where needed to identify the records to be removed.
  • Follow-up correspondence about any of the above, including responding to a broker's identity-verification questions and re-submitting a request that a broker has ignored or refused.

Not every state recognises authorized agents for every kind of request. Where a state's law is narrower than this list, we act only to the extent that state allows.

What you are giving us to do it with

To identify your records, brokers match on the information you provide during setup: your name and any variants, date of birth, current and previous addresses, and contact details. You authorize us to submit that information to brokers for the sole purpose of identifying and removing your records.

This is unavoidable and worth stating plainly: removing a record requires telling the broker which record to remove. We cannot ask them to delete you without identifying you.

What we will not do

  • We will not use your personal information for any purpose other than fulfilling your requests, verifying your identity, and preventing fraud. This mirrors the limit that 11 CCR § 7063(d) places on authorized agents, and we agree to it contractually as well.
  • We will not sell or share your personal information.
  • We will not submit requests on your behalf after this authorization ends.
  • We will not file a California DROP request for you. California verifies identity through its own state gateway, and no agent — including us — can complete that on your behalf. If you are a California resident we will show you how to file it yourself and track the deadline afterwards.

How long this lasts, and how to end it

This authorization begins when you agree to it and continues while your subscription is active. It ends when your subscription ends, or immediately if you revoke it in writing at hello@vanishpoint.co.

When it ends we stop submitting requests, including scheduled re-submissions. Requests already submitted are not withdrawn — we have no mechanism to un-ask a broker to stop selling your data, and you would not want us to.

How we protect your information

We maintain reasonable security procedures and practices to protect the information you give us, as 11 CCR § 7063(c) requires of authorized agents. Identifying details are stored encrypted. Records of what we sent to a broker and what came back are stored privately and are reachable only by you and by us.

What we cannot promise

We submit requests and keep evidence of them. We do not control whether a broker complies, and we are not able to guarantee any particular outcome.

  • Opting out is not the same as deletion. Most broker processes suppress the sale and sharing of your data rather than erasing it, and some remove a public listing while retaining the underlying record.
  • Removals do not stay done. Brokers rebuild files from public records on their own schedules, which is why we re-submit on a recurring basis.
  • We submit to the brokers we have built and verified. That is a specific list, not every data broker that exists, and no service can reach all of them.

The record of your agreement

When you agree, we record the version of this document you were shown, the date and time, and the IP address the agreement came from. This document is versioned and previous versions remain published, so the exact text you agreed to can always be produced.

If we change this document we will publish a new version. A new version does not apply to you until you agree to it.
